A chai tea latte is typically made with warm milk, black tea, sweetener and a combination of ginger, peppercorns, cinnamon and cardamom. It is an alternative to coffee and coffee drinks, because black tea contains caffeine. The amount you drink and the method used to make the chai tea influences the amount of caffeine you are consuming.

A 16-ounce chai tea latte contains an average of 95 milligrams of caffeine, while a 12-ounce has slightly less, with approximately 70 milligrams of caffeine.
You may make a chai tea latte from a premade version by adding water or milk to a concentrate or powdered form. In the concentrate version, a 1-cup serving has approximately 30 to 35 milligrams of caffeine. In the powdered form, a serving contains 35 to 55 milligrams of caffeine.
